Who this policy covers

This policy covers newportnewspremierwaterdamage.com, the website of Newport News Premier Water Damage. The site passes restoration requests from homeowners in Newport News and nearby on the Peninsula to local restoration companies. In this policy, "we" means the people who run the site.

What the request form collects

When you send the request form, it sends these fields and nothing else you typed:

• Your name. So the company that reads your request knows who it is speaking to.
• Best number to reach you. The number the restoration company uses to reach you about the job.
• Email (optional). Used only if you would rather have a written reply as well.
• What kind of damage?. The kind of damage you picked from the list, so the request reaches someone who does that work.
• What happened, and where in the house?. Your own description of the damage. Whatever you type here is passed on as written.
• Add photos (optional). Any pictures you attach, kept with the request and passed on with it.

The form also holds one hidden field that people never see. It is there to catch automated spam, and a request that fills it in is treated as spam. When a request arrives, the time is recorded and it is checked automatically for other signs of spam.

One of those checks is Cloudflare Turnstile, which runs in your browser while the form is open and usually asks nothing of you. It hands the form a one-time token that is checked once when you send it and is not kept with your request. Cloudflare's own privacy policy covers what the check itself reads.

How a request is used

Each request is delivered by email to the people who run this site and passed to a local restoration company that works in the area, so that company can contact you about the job. That company is a separate business from this website. Once it has your details, its own privacy practices apply to them.

We use what you send for that purpose only. We do not sell it, add it to a mailing list or pass it to marketers.

Services that help run the form

Running the form takes a few outside services: web hosting with its security layer, a database where requests are stored, and an email service that delivers each one. Those services handle your details only to provide their part of the job.

Photos you attach

Photos are stored with your request in private storage. They are never published on this site, and they go to the restoration company along with the request. Before you attach one, check that it does not show anything you would rather keep private, such as documents, mail or family pictures.

Phone calls

Page views

The site counts its own page views, without cookies and without any outside analytics company. When a page loads, a short script from this site sends back these details and nothing else:

• kind: that the record is a page view.
• path: the address of the page, without anything after a question mark.
• referrer host: the name of the website that linked you here, if any, but not the page on it.
• viewport w: how wide your browser window is, in pixels.

The server that answers the page adds what every web request carries anyway: the browser's own description of itself, and the rough area, country and network the request came from. Your IP address is used once, to tell one visit from another on the same day, by turning it into a scrambled code that cannot be reversed. The address itself is not stored.

Cookies

These pages set no advertising or tracking cookies and load no advertising scripts from other companies.

How long a request is kept

A request is kept as a record of what was sent and where it went. You can ask for yours to be deleted at any time, and it will be.

Your choices

To see what we hold about you, to correct it or to have it deleted, send the request form with the word "Privacy" at the start of the message box, pick "Not sure" as the kind of damage, and use the same name and number you gave before. The restoration company keeps its own copy of any request passed to it, so ask it directly as well.

Children

This site is for people dealing with damage to a home. It is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their details.

Changes to this policy

If the form changes, this page changes with it, and the list above is checked against the form every time the site is published. The date at the top shows the last change. The terms of use cover the rest of how the site works.
